BALTIMORE –Clouds will continue to thicken today with a chance of late afternoon sprinkles and showers. More rain late Wednesday.

Clouds will continue to thicken throughout today. Any early sunshine will quickly disappear behind thicker clouds. Today will not be as warm as Monday with highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Some isolated rain and showers are possible towards evening. There is a chance of more scattered light rain and showers this evening. Lows tonight will drop into the lower 50s.

A stronger low pressure area is approaching the area on Wednesday. We will see cloudy skies continue with another round of showers developing during the afternoon. Highs will top out in the lower 60s. Continued rain, a period of strong and gusty winds and a few thunderstorms are possible Wednesday night through early Thursday morning. Rainfall totals generally look like 0.50″ or less.

Thursday will see our first real cool blast of the season. Winds will gust over 40 mph with mostly cloudy skies. A few afternoon showers are possible with highs only near 50°. Throw in the wind and the temperature feels like the 30s and 40s!

Friday will be another unsettled day with more clouds than sunshine. Cold and strong winds will continue with gusts above 30 km/h. Highs won’t peak until the mid-40s. Some patchy rain or even wet snow is possible Friday and early Friday night. No snow accumulation is likely in our immediate area, but western Maryland will see accumulating snow.

The weekend will be windy and cool. Saturday offers a mostly cloudy sky with a cool and breezy wind. An isolated shower or sprinkler possible. Highs top out in the mid-50s. With lower relative humidity, drought conditions and strong wind gusts, the risk of brush fire will be higher than normal. Remember a burn ban is in effect for the state of Maryland for the time being.
