Drake Maye returns after a concussion evaluation, but the Patriots continue to struggle

Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is back after briefly leaving today’s game for a concussion evaluation.

Maye was hit hard in the head on the sideline and went to the locker room to be checked out. Jacoby Brissett replaced him and the Patriots’ offense went three-and-out on Brissett’s lone drive.

But when Maye was cleared to return, he got back on the field and didn’t seem concerned, running the ball on his first play on the field and picking up a penalty flag when he was hit while sliding.

Unfortunately for the Patriots, Maye later fumbled on that drive and the Chargers recovered. The Patriots’ offense hasn’t done much of anything, and the Patriots’ defense has struggled to contain Justin Herbert and the Chargers’ offense. Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez also left the game and was ruled out with a concussion.

It’s been all LA today and the Chargers lead 17-0.
