Teenager in critical condition after shooting near West Phoenix mall

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – A teenager is seriously injured after a shooting Friday night in west Phoenix near the Desert Sky Mall.

Just before 6 p.m., officers were called to the area 76th Avenue and Thomas Road for a reported shooting.

When they arrived, they found a teenager who had been shot. He was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Police are still on the scene and detectives have begun investigating what led to the shooting.

The area will be closed for an extended period.

No other information about the victim or suspect has been released.
