Syracuse DE Fadil Diggs ‘unavailable’ to play in Holiday Bowl for Orange

San Diego, Calif. — Syracuse defensive end Fadil Diggs will not play for the Orange against Washington State in the Holiday Bowl.

A Syracuse spokesman said he was “unavailable” to play for the Orange against the Cougars. He had no obvious signs of injury.

Diggs was on the Syracuse sideline wearing a white jersey and no pads, as were a number of Orange players who showed obvious signs of injury.

Diggs was among the Orange’s standout defensive players this season. He led the Orange with 7.5 sacks and 14 tackles for loss while collecting 45 tackles.

Diggs is one of four Syracuse players who have accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine Bowl, a showcase for players considered candidates to be selected in the NFL Draft.
