FIRST WARN WEATHER DAY for strong storms

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) –

Today is a FIRST WARNING WEATHER DAY as we expect widespread, scattered severe thunderstorms to push through ArkLaTex mainly this afternoon and early evening. Severe storms can be triggered as early as 11.00 and should leave the area no later than 23.00 tonight. The bulk of the system will be in the region between 14-19. We expect the most severe weather threats today, including heavy rainfall, large hail, gusty winds and even a slight chance of isolated tornadoes. Pay attention to the weather with us! High temperatures will mostly get into the mid to upper 60s, with a few of us even looking to get above 70 degrees. The morning low temperatures start in the 50s.

We should see a good amount of cloud cover still around Friday, but we should only see a stray rain shower or two linger over the region on Friday. High temperatures will reach the upper 60′s.

Saturday will bring us another round of rain, but this group looks to be isolated mostly towards NW LA with a slight chance to see some hail and gusty winds in this system. We expect to finally dry out completely on Sunday with sunshine after that. Sunshine and dry conditions also look set to dominate the long-range forecast heading into next week. High temperatures will remain in the upper 60s and lower 70s for the most part through the weekend and into Monday. Highs then look to have a nice cooling trend by the middle of next week just in time for the New Year as highs drop into the low to mid 60s for Tuesday before looking to fall into The 50s on New Year’s Day.

Pay attention to the weather with us all today on your first alert weather day! We will keep you updated throughout the day.
