JJ Watt roasts Dan Orlovsky for nonsensical Pittsburgh Steelers thanks

Despite picking up wins over two good teams in the last two weeks and posting an 8-2 overall record, there is still no shortage of doubters that the Pittsburgh Steelers can compete for a Super Bowl this season .

Among those doubters is former quarterback and ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky, who recently had a no-nonsense take on why the Steelers can’t compete for the biggest prize in the NFL.

During a segment on ESPN’s “First Take” Thursday, Orlovsky said the Steelers are “not going to beat Lamar (Jackson), you’re not going to beat Josh Allen, you’re not going to beat Patrick Mahomes kicking field goals.”

The problem with that take is that the Steelers just beat Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens with field goals in Week 11 thanks to sensational performances from Chris Boswell and the defense.

After catching wind of Orlovsky’s recording, the brother of Steelers star TJ Watt, future Hall of Famer and current CBS analyst JJ Watt, went to town on Orlovsky, even roasting him for his infamous 2008 blunder when he ran the ball out of the back in his own end zone.

“‘You won’t beat team A by only kicking field goals’ is a WILD take to make 4 days after LITERALLY beating team A by only field goals,” Watt said. “It’s like the sports media equivalent of a (quarterback) running out of their own end zone.”

Watt has made it clear he believes in the Steelers’ chances to compete for a Super Bowl during a recent appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show.”

This is not the first bad attitude Orlovsky has had on the Steelers. He knocked on the table for Pittsburgh to keep Justin Fields under center instead of going to their original starter, Russell Wilson, when he was healthy.

Since then, Orlovsky has been proven wrong as Wilson has provided the upgrade in the passing attack that head coach Mike Tomlin envisioned. And with that upgrade, Wilson has improved the Steelers’ chances of competing for a Super Bowl when you consider the elite defense Pittsburgh has.

Say what you will about the Steelers’ chances of competing for a Super Bowl, but Orlovsky’s stance is simply silly given what happened in Week 11. It’s also ridiculous for Orlovsky to use the Ravens as an example of a team that that must be considered by Jackson and Co. have routinely disappointed in the playoffs.
