Report: Mets, Meneses agree to minor league deal

The New York Mets agreed to a minor league deal with first baseman Joey Meneses, according to The New York Post’s Jon Heyman.

The financials of the pact are not yet known, but the agreement reportedly includes an invitation to spring training.

Meneses, 32, debuted with the Washington Nationals in 2022. He spent three seasons in DC, hitting .274/.322/.408 with 29 home runs and 165 RBIs in 286 games.

He battled to a career-low .593 OPS (70 OPS+) in 76 games last season.

The Mets are currently expected to start Mark Vientos at first base. Pete Alonso, who manned the first for the Mets since 2019, is a free agent.
