The Tony winner dedicated the cover to Creel during a performance at The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Time to pull out the tissues. It’s been 50 days since Gavin Creel died, and as the community continues to grapple with his loss, Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth has released a song as salve.

During her performance at Kelly Clarkson Show On November 18, Chenoweth performed a heartfelt cover of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” in tribute to the late Tony winner. Video of her performance can be seen above.

The Kelly Clarkson Show was another stop in Chenoweth’s current television blitz, which also saw her appear on Late Night with Seth Meyers 18 November On both programmes, Chenoweth discussed her upcoming Netflix Christmas movie Our little secretand how it is for her to see Ariana Grande flourishes as Glinda in the film adaptation of Evil.

However, Chenoweth and Seth Meyers have a special additional theatrical connection. As Meyers recalled on his program, “I’m very proud of myself because the last time I saw you, I had the unique opportunity to recommend you a show!”

As Chenoweth recalls it, “We were at The Whitney and this crackhead comes up to me. We’re hugging and I get to see your wife, who I was really excited about, and he says, ‘I want to tell you about this show Oh, Mary!’ He says, “I don’t even like musicals.” Chenoweth pauses as the audience roars with laughter. “I’m standing right there, Seth! And I’m just like, ‘Just let him keep talking,’ and he’s like, ‘You know, I mean, they can be really bad, right’… ‘Seth, that’s kind of what I am known for?!’ But because of your recommendation I went to see it and I was blown away. It’s fantastic. But you’re like my brother, he hates musical theater too.”
