After a wet night, most of the rain will move north on Tuesday afternoon. Rain showers will turn to snow in northwest Minnesota as colder air moves in. We will all see snow showers on Wednesday.

It was a wet night and the rain will continue in the northern half of Minnesota on Tuesday. Much of the state saw more than 1 inch of rainfall with many spots in western and central Minnesota closing in on close to 2 inches of rainfall since Monday evening.

Temperatures will drop throughout the day Tuesday as colder air wraps into the system. This means high temperatures on Tuesday morning for most. Temperatures will drop from the 50s in the southeast to the low 40s and from the low 40s in the northwest to the 30s Tuesday night.

Additional rainfall will be heaviest along the North Shore, where some spots could end up with 3 inches total. Measurable precipitation will mostly cease for the southern half of the state.

The bulk of snowfall accumulation will be in northwestern Minnesota to North Dakota, where there will be enough moisture and cold air to do so. We could see a slushy coating on grassy surfaces in the Twin Cities Wednesday into Wednesday night.
