My wife’s sage will banish ghosts that haunt our training ground

Swindon Town manager Ian Holloway has claimed his side’s poor performances this season could be down to the club’s training ground being haunted.

Holloway, 61, said he would ask his wife to visit the Beversbrook facility and burn sage to appease spirits apparently unnerving staff.

Swindon are 22nd in League Two, having won just one of their last ten games. They are yet to win in the league since Holloway took charge at the end of last month.

“On my first day here, I started my meeting and my door opened. But to do that, you have to turn the handle all the way. It’s impossible,” Holloway said. “They said, ‘The ghost has said hello, gaffer.’
