There really is no predicting what Woody Harrelson can do.

The 63-year-old actor is what Ted Danson calling a “whimsical creature”—so much so that one of Danson’s “favorite Bowl stories” involves Harrelson doing something quite unexpected.

On Jimmy Kimmel live on Nov. 14, Danson, 76, recalled the cast of the ’80s sitcom “waiting” for Harrelson to show up to rehearsals one day, “and he ended up being about 30 minutes late for rehearsal. And a half hour is when you’re late then… And we thought, ‘Well, what the hell?'”

“And someone came running in and said, ‘Woody called. He’s in Berlin. The wall is coming down and he didn’t want to miss it,'” Danson said, recalling the truly incredible excuse his colleague had for coming too late in November 1989.

“That’s the quirky side of Woody, but also the magnificent side. He just bites off these big chunks of life. He’s just amazing.”

The former costars recently teamed up to launch a joint podcast project, Where everyone knows your namewhich Danson previously told PEOPLE is “so much fun” to make.

We get to reminisce and share and catch up with each otherwhich alone is enough, but we have also met many people between us that we can talk to and find out what they are doing, including Senator (John) Kerry which had a small (role) in Bowl and we can talk to him about climate change,” Danson said before the podcast’s premiere. “We can really go anywhere with that.”

The podcast has also offered Harrelson a platform to reflect on the many incredible things he’s done in his life — including nude snowboarding with his longtime friend, the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea.

“I have footage of Woody Harrelson snowboarding naked down a big snowy mountain.” Flea admitted during an August appearance on the podcast.
