Tornado watch in effect for North Texas as severe storms threaten

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for most of North Texas, including D-FW, until Friday at 8 p.m. 21.00.

This comes as heavy thunderstorms, several showers along with a cold front are forecast for the area during the day and evening.

“The main threats with this activity will be 1 inch hail, damaging winds and an isolated tornado,” an NWS-Fort Worth advisory said.

Heavy rainfall could result in flooding, particularly in the northwest, the advisory warned. Rainfall of 1-2 inches is expected with isolated amounts up to 3 inches.
