ANAMOSA, Iowa (KCRG) – The Jones County Auditor is warning voters that the polls will be busier from now on. She expects that the queues to vote will be the longest until 8 o’clock, when the polling stations close.

The polls in Jones County saw an initial rush at the opening. It was a constant flow of people all day.

Some voters TV9 spoke to at the polls Tuesday morning shared why they cast their ballots today.

Deborah and Mark Parham cast their ballots Tuesday morning at the Anamosa polls.

For those planning to cast a vote after work on Tuesday, the wait to do so could be longer.

“Kamala,” said Deborah Parhamn. “Kamala,” Mark Parham followed up.

“I think she has more sense than the other person,” Deborah Parham said.

“I think she’s really for the people,” Mark Parhman said.

The Parhams said women’s rights and the overturning of Roe v. Wade helped them decide who to vote for.

The Engelbarts, on the other hand, said the state of the economy was on their minds when they voted Tuesday.

“Donald Trump,” said Penny Engelbart.

“It’s been tough the last three years and I think it’s time for a change,” Russel Engelbart said.

Both families voted on Election Day rather early due to work schedules.

The Jones County Auditor said the line to vote has been consistent throughout the day.

“There was a large flow of voters first at 7 in the morning, catching a lot of people before they go in tow. So I know the poll workers were busy at the polls this morning. Since the big rush, there has been a steady flow,” said Jones County Auditor Whitney Hein.

She expects the polls to be busier after working hours, between 4 and 8 p.m

“The polls are open until 20. As long as you are in line before 20.00, you will be allowed to vote, even if it takes a bit to get through that line. No one can join the queue after

Anyone coming out Tuesday night to cast their vote is asked to be patient while waiting in line and take the time to get their ID.

After the polls are closed, the unofficial results are calculated and posted on the Secretary of State’s website.

Auditor Hein said these unofficial results for Jones County will be released after 1 p.m
