Columbia Public Works is clearing roads, asking people to stay home if possible

Columbia’s Public Works Department asked drivers to stay home Saturday to avoid snowy streets.

The department has a crew of 17 people who work on the roads.

In a post on its Facebook page, the department urges anyone traveling to slow down, allow for extra braking distances at intersections and leave plenty of space between vehicles.

The department also reminded people to avoid parking on snow routes.

Anyone going to the Mizzou football game was reminded that they could take a free Go COMO shuttle.

The bus runs from downtown Columbia to Faurot Field and back.
