The NBA imposed fines Atlanta Hawks $100,000 for “violation of the league’s player participation policy in connection with Trae Young will miss the team’s Nov. 12 Emirates NBA Cup game against the Boston Celtics at TD Garden,” the league announced Tuesday.

Young was listed for that Celtics game with right Achilles tendinitis. But, the league said, “after an investigation, including review by an independent physician, the NBA determined that Hawks kept Young out of a game he could have played in under the medical standard of the Policy. The organization’s conduct violated the policy, which is intended to promote participation in the NBA’s regular season.”

Part of NBA Participation Policy states that “teams must ensure that star players are available for nationally televised and in-season tournament games.”

It’s the only game Young has missed this season for the 7-11 Hawks, who defeated the Celtics 117-116 in that competition.
