Best Duke basketball photos from Tuesday’s game against Kansas

The Duke Blue Devils battled back from an early hole against the Kansas Jayhawks’ No. 1 on Tuesday night, but rookie superstar Cooper Flagg and his teammates couldn’t seal the deal on a game-changing upset.

Kansas scored 16 of the game’s first 19 points after making six of its first seven shots from the floor and burying three 3-pointers in the game’s first 4:11.

Despite Flagg scoring just two points in the opening half thanks to some constant double teams, the Blue Devils put together a 16-4 run late in the opening half to tie the game. Tyrese Proctor made five of his first six triples and veteran forward Maliq Brown constantly knocked the ball away in a game he finished with four steals.

But five-star freshman Kon Knueppel couldn’t find a hole in the Kansas defense in the final five seconds for a crucial turnover, allowing the Jayhawks to build a three-point lead. When Knueppel’s final gasp came off the rim, his eighth miss in eight 3-point attempts, the Blue Devils walked away with another tally in the loss column.
