WSU MEN’S BASKETBALL BEAT CSP 83-73 ON THE ROAD

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Winona State University men’s basketball team met Concordia University, St. Paul, defeating them 83-73 on the road. Luke Haertle paced the Warriors in scoring with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

How it happened:
Winona State and Concordia-St. Paul traded baskets back and forth early in the game, but a Connor Drew layup assisted by Haertle gave the Warriors an early 12-11 advantage. Two Warrior starters picked up their second fouls late in the first half while sitting as the Warriors took a 30-29 lead into the half with the final score from Isaiah Thompson.

A Luke Haertle layup would get the second half going for Winona State, and the Golden Bears would have an answer for every WSU basket from there on out. Soon after, a three-pointer from Arius Alijosius and five straight points from Haertle extended the lead to eight points. Coming off the bench, Tyler Orr would knock down two key three-pointers in the final six minutes of the game, keeping the lead at a comfortable distance. The Warriors finished the game with a flurry of free throws and won 83-73.
