Bo Nickal stays perfect with UFC 309 win over Paul Craig

Bo Nickal won again Saturday at UFC 309, and he even took a little golf swing at President-elect Donald Trump, who was in attendance, but it wasn’t pretty.

And the crowd let him know it, breaking into an “overrated” chant in the final seconds of his unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) victory over Paul Craig.

Nickal improved to 7-0 with the win. Craig fell to 17-9 overall.

“It’s a chance to see that there’s something to learn,” UFC commentator Daniel Cormier said before the decision was announced. “There’s some work to do before we see Bo Nickal in there with the top guys.”

The crowd started booing again when Joe Rogan approached the former Penn State wrestling champion for the post fight interview and Rogan asked Nickal about it.

“I’m fine, you know,” Nickal said. “I went out there and I dominated for 15 minutes.

“These guys want to see blood,” he said, acknowledging the crowd. “They expect me to knock everybody out in 25 seconds or choke them out in a minute, and the reality is these guys are all professional fighters.”

Nickal noted that he has only been fighting for about three years.

“I’m thrilled with that performance,” he said. “I dominated him. I cut him.

“I was happy about it.”

Nickal then said that people should “look at the greatest fighters of all time,” for the model he’s trying to follow.

“Jon Jones, GSP, Mighty Mouse, they’re winning decisions over tough guys,” he said. “Paul Craig’s got 26 real games and I’ve got six, you know? And I had him for 15 minutes, so I’m fired up.”
