‘Jones Brothers act like Tom couldn’t turn their lights out’ – Fans react as Tom Aspinall finds himself in ‘dirty’ spot with Jon Jones’ family at UFC 309

Tom Aspinall had planned to attend Thursday’s UFC 309 press conference but was told he could not. The interim UFC heavyweight champion has been an excellent addition to Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic heavyweight championship fight on Saturday at Madison Square Garden. After weighing in as a backup, Aspinall hoped to fight Jon Jones if Stipe Miocic withdrew.

Although he didn’t, the British fighter made himself known by performing in the crowd. While his presence alone was newsworthy, it was more exciting that he was forced to sit with Jon Jones’ brothers. But why was such a seating decision made? Well, it might be because Aspinall recently told Michael Bisping during an interview that he might break into the cage to confront Jon Jones to force a fight between them. ‘The Count’ wondered if he would actually do so, to which Aspinall replied, “I would like to yes, absolutely.”

If this wasn’t enough, the Englishman also suggested he would go all Hulk Hogan and rip off his shirt once inside the Octagon. “Whip off the shirt, go full Hulk Hogan, and just start ripping it.”

Jones was scheduled to defend his heavyweight title against Miocic at UFC 295 last year, but an injury forced him to withdraw. Meanwhile, Aspinall challenged Sergei Pavlovich for the interim belt and successfully got the win with a first-round stoppage. Since then, the majority of the MMA community has been clamoring for Jones vs. Aspinall in a unification match.

Nevertheless, the UFC stuck to their original plan when they moved Jones vs. Miocic despite frequent complaints from fans and pundits alike. Jones has even stated on many occasions that he does not want to fight Aspinall and would rather face light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira because of the box office appeal. Nevertheless, the fans’ reaction to this clip certainly removed any doubt that Aspinall was the true rival of Jon Jones at the moment.

Fans loved the sight of seeing Tom Aspinall’s interaction with the Jones family
