Detroit Lions vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Lions continue to dominate the Jags on both ends, taking a 42-6 lead in the final quarter

Williams catches a screen pass for just two yards on the final play of the third quarter. (End of 3rd quarter)

Duvernay returns the kick to the Jacksonville 30 to start this next drive. Etienne gains two yards, then Jones joins Thomas for a 21-yard reception. Jack Campbell is called for pass interference on the next play as Gabe Davis is down and has to be helped to the medical tent on the sideline after the injury timeout. Jacksonville gets into Lions territory as Etienne runs up the middle for nine yards on first down, then Jones tries to find Farrell near the end zone, but it’s Joseph with his seventh interception of the season. Lions get their first turnover of the game. (2:18)

St. Brown makes another big catch on first down, this time for 26 yards. Montgomery runs down the middle for a yard, then Goff misses Williams down the middle to set up third-and-9. On first-and-10 from the Jacksonville 34, Montgomery makes the short catch and breaks some tackles for nine yards, then the back runs five yards ahead. Blink and you’ll miss it: The Lions quickly score again on Williams’ 64-yard touchdown to take a 35-6 lead

(Start of 3rd Quarter) The Jags’ kickoff at the 50 following an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty was called on Alim McNeill after the half-ending field goal. The Lions start from their own 20 as Goff again scrambles for five yards on first down, then Williams tries to shake some defenders but still gains enough for the first down conversion. Montgomery gains six yards on first down, then Goff finds Williams on the crosser as he easily cruises down the sideline for a 64-yard touchdown. This Detroit offense is firing on all cylinders. (12:55)

Lions offense scores touchdowns on all four drives, Detroit takes 28-6 halftime break on Jaguars

After another touchback, the first down for the Jags is an outside run to Etienne, who is stopped by Branch and Anzalone, but Anzalone is down after the play and quickly goes to the locker room clutching his left arm. Jones throws a short pass to Luke Farrell for three yards on the final play before the two minute warning. After we get back, Jones finds Davis as four Lions stop him short of the first down, but Jones sneaks ahead on fourth-and-1 to keep the drive alive. The Jags have just one timeout left as Jones finds Thomas down the middle for 24 yards and now Za’Darius Smith is down the field injured. Lions call an injury timeout with 46 seconds left. Fortunately, he is up and walking to the sideline as the Jags are flagged for a false start. After throwing the ball away on first down, Jones makes two completions for 17 yards and a first down with 17 seconds left. The Jags call up the Wildcat for Etienne, but he only gains a yard on first down, then Engram makes a 5-yard catch to use their final timeout as Little hits a 35-yard field goal with one second left to end the quarter. Jaguars look for some momentum as they start at their own 30 as Etienne makes a grab before being tackled by Carlton Davis for nine yards. Etienne then gains three yards for a first down, just the third first down for the Jags so far. Jones overthrew Duvernay on first down, then missed Gabe Davis on the next play to make it third-and-10. Ford Field gets loud as the Jags take their second timeout to make a decisive third down. After the timeout, the Lions blitz and Jones misses Thomas for another quick defensive stop. Cooke passes it to Raymond for a fair catch at the Detroit 16. (4:58)

Montgomery dominates, finds the end zone again as the Lions lead 21-3

The Lions look to score on their third straight possession as the first down play is a St. Brown hook-and-ladder to Williams for 11 yards. The next play is another strong run by Montgomery down the middle for 11 more yards, then Montgomery gains eight more as this offense rolls. Montgomery gets the second down carry for five yards to move the chains again. All of these runs set up the play action pass to St. Brown for 12 yards, then Montgomery catches the first down pass for six yards. Goff rolls out on second down, then scampers for five yards to make it first-and-goal at the Jacksonville 6. Montgomery is pushed in front by Penei Sewell for his second rushing TD already. Doug Peterson picks up Cam Little for a 59-yard field goal and it’s good as the Jags take an early lead. (9:36 a.m.)

Kickoff

The Lions quickly return home for Week 11, taking on the Jaguars. Detroit is in their all blue uniforms while Jacksonville wears their white uniforms with black pants. The Lions won the toss and start the game as Jake Bates kicks off to Devin Duvernay and returns it to their own 31.

Preview

For the franchise’s best nine-game start since 1954, the Lions return home to Ford Field against the Jaguars on Sunday.

Detroit is in the midst of a three-game stretch against AFC South teams, going 2-0 against the division after defeating the Texans in a 26-23 comeback win last Sunday. That win came thanks to two clutch field goals from Jake Bates, and despite Jared Goff’s five interceptions.

Trade acquisition Za’Darius Smith will make his debut for the Lions after being a healthy scratch last week, and the team is hoping tackle Taylor Decker can return to the offensive line after missing last week’s contest. Tight end Sam LaPorta has been ruled out after suffering a shoulder injury in the Texans game.

Jacksonville is tied for the worst record in the NFL and starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence is sidelined with a shoulder injury. Big receivers like DK Metcalf and Justin Jefferson have given the Lions trouble this year, so keep an eye on Jaguars rookie Brian Thomas, who has 607 yards and five touchdowns on 37 receptions.
