Is Sunita William really sick in space? This is what NASA says

NASA is facing growing concerns about the health of astronaut Sunita Williams and Barry “Butch” Wilmore, who has been held up on the International Space Station (ISS) for considerably longer than expected. What was supposed to be a short mission has turned into a months-long stay, and the public is starting to worry about how being in space for so long is damaging their health.
Why are they still in the room?
Williams and Wilmore were originally supposed to be back on Earth after just a week in space, but their return has taken longer than expected for reasons NASA has not fully explained. They spend months in space and the delay has made people question how they are doing up there. Things got even more complicated when astronauts from SpaceX’s Crew-8 mission returned in late October.

After their long stay on the ISS, they were immediately taken to the hospital for essential medical checks, with one of them spending the whole night there for further treatment. This further fueled the concerns and raised even more questions about the impact of space travel on astronauts.
Sunita Williams looks different
The biggest cause for concern right now is NASA astronaut Sunita Williams. New pictures from space show her looking much thinner than usual. She has been in space for over 150 days and although it is normal for astronauts to lose weight and lose muscle mass in space, her appearance has caused great concern. People are worried about how being in space for so long is affecting her health.
NASA assures that Williams and Willmore will receive proper care, but given that they will remain in space long after their scheduled return, it’s a challenge not to be concerned.

NASA Responds to Growing Concerns
In response to all questions and concerns, NASA immediately issued a statement to alleviate the public’s concerns. They stated that all astronauts are closely monitored and receive regular health checks while in space. A NASA spokesperson told the Daily Mail: “All astronauts undergo routine medical checks and are in good health.” Although NASA is confident that the astronauts are fine, their extensive stay in space still makes people anxious about how it affects their bodies.
So what happens to Williams and Wilmore?

Williams and Wilmore are currently expected to remain on the ISS until at least February 2025. While NASA confirms they are in good health, the extended stay has raised concerns about the effects of longer space missions.
As NASA prepares for longer missions, especially to Mars, they must develop new methods to ensure the safety and health of astronauts. What happens to the astronauts now will affect how future space missions are planned and managed.
