Follow live as artists are announced

From Sabrina Carpenter to Chappell Roan, female artists behind some of this year’s biggest hits are set for industry recognition Friday as the Recording Academy announces its nominees for the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.

Carpenter and Roan are favored for nominations in the Best New Artist category. Each has had major breakthroughs this year, drawing big festival crowds and moving up multiple Billboard charts.

Two of the industry’s most prolific artists – Taylor Swift and Beyoncé – are expected to win nominations again this year. Swift, who broke the record for the most album of the year wins, released her 11th studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” in April and will wrap up her massive Eras Tour in December.

Beyoncé is likely to extend her record as the most nominated artist of all time. She could also be nominated in the Best Country Album category after being shut out of the Country Music Awards this year. Post Malone, who released his first country album this year, could also get nods in the country music categories.

Fans are also expecting nominations in the album of the year and pop genre categories for Charli XCX, whose album “Brat” inspired some of the year’s biggest trends.

In the rap genre, Kendrick Lamar could get a nod for his diss hit against Drake, “Not Like Us,” which was one of the top songs of the summer.

Members of the Recording Academy completed first-round voting in mid-October to determine the nominees. This year is the academy said in a press release that it introduced several important updates to its award process, including adjusting eligibility criteria and renaming categories.

The show will also debut its Harry Belafonte Best Song for Social Change Award, which was recently renamed and recategorized to honor Belafonte, the late calypso star and civil rights champion.

The Grammy Awards will air on February 2 on CBS. Here is a list of the categories expected to be announced at 10:45 a.m. ET Friday.

Stay tuned for live updates.
