ForbesToday’s NEW ‘Connections’ tip and answer for Wednesday 6 November

Hello! I hope you are taking care of yourself and your loved ones in what has been an eventful week in the world so far. At least there is a fresh round Connections for us to focus on for a few minutes. For what it’s worth, I have a fun song recommendation at the end for you to enjoy as well.

Today’s NEW Connections advice and answers for Thursday 7 November will come straight up.

How Connections plays

Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on NEW website or game app.

You are presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by finding out the connections between them. The groups can be things like clickable items, names of research study participants, or words with a body part in front.

There is only one solution to each puzzle and you have to be careful when it comes to words that can fit into more than one category. You can mix up the words to perhaps help you see connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the hardest. The purple group often involves puns.

Choose four words that you think fit together and press send. If you guess and you’re wrong, you lose a life. If you’re close to having a correct group, you may see a message telling you that you’re one word away from getting it right, but you still need to figure out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with some tips and if you’re really struggling, today’s is Connections answer. As with Wordle and other similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chat.

If you have one NEW Free access or Spil subscription you can access Connections file. This includes all previous games of Connectionsso you can go back and play any of them you missed.

Apart from the first 60 games or so, you should be able to find my tips for each grid via Google if you need them! Just click here and add the date of the game for which you need clues or the answers to the search query.

What are today’s connection groups?

Do you need a little extra help?

What are today’s connections answers?

Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll down the page any further until you’re ready to find out about today Connections answer.

This is your last warning!

Today’s Connections the answers are…

  • Yellow group — food-related jumble (HASH, SALAD, SCRAMBLE, STEW)
  • Green group — public status (CHARACTER, IMAGE, NAME, REPUTATION)
  • Blue group — info on a museum sign (ARTIST, MEDIUM, TITLE, YEAR)
  • Purple group – anagrams of famous painters (DIAL, EGADS, MONTE, YOGA)

Not a perfect game today, but my total win streak is up to 11. Here’s how I did:

I opened with a guess at SCRABLE, SALAD, MEDIUM and HASH as in ways to cook eggs. That left me one away from a group.

I turned my attention elsewhere and tried something else with ARTIST, NAME, IMAGE and TITLE (in what you’d see on a Spotify profile I think?) but it was nowhere near. In retrospect, NAME didn’t quite fit after all. But swapping in MEDIUM and YEAR meant I got the blues.

Then the greens became clear. With only four reasonable cooking-related words left, I pushed them aside to get the purple ones. Then I wrapped the things with the yellow ones.

I figured there was some kind of pun going on with EGADS and YOGA in particular since they didn’t really fit with anything else. The purple ones, as far as I can tell, refer to Salvador Dali, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet and Francisco de Goya. I am not familiar with Degas and only vaguely remember de Goya’s work, so I doubt I would have ever found out about this group.

That’s all there is to it for today Connections clues and answers. Remember to check my blog for tips and the fix for Friday’s match if you need them.

PS I don’t have a super strong personal connection with today’s song recommendation. It just popped up thanks to the shuffle feature on my mega playlist this week and I can’t get it out of my head. I actually didn’t realize this was such a big hit at the time as it hit the top five in Canada and the UK as well as the top 20 in the US

Right now I just feel like I need to dance out of all the excitement that’s in the air. This tune works quite well for that. And hey, I hope you enjoy it too, maybe even while doing your best Tarzan impression:
