Saturday Kitchen’s Matt Tebbutt describes career shake-up amid show’s ‘challenges’ | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Saturday Kitchen star Matt Tebbutt will explore a new path in the new year amid TV challenges.

The 51-year-old, who has fronted the show since 2016, foresees a “very different” future as he eyes YouTube for his next venture.

“I’m looking into the world of YouTube at the moment because everyone is jumping on it and it seems to be working,” he revealed. “I think that’s how people watch TV these days.”

After seeing other chefs who have made it big on the digital platform, he is keen to emulate their success.

“It’s driving more customers, it’s driving more views, and they’re having a lot of success with it. So I’m going to look into that,” he said.

When probed about the obstacles to maintaining high viewership, he acknowledged: “It’s definitely (a challenge), yes, because the new generation no longer watches what they call linear TV, it’s all on their phones or their computers.

“And they can write what they want and watch it when they want it. So yeah, there’s a big change going on in TV land at the moment.”

He noted that broadcasters must adapt to changing consumer habits and anticipate a transformation in the coming years.

Still, Matt shares no worries about Saturday Kitchen’s immediate future, confirming its return next year.

He also noted that its fate is beyond his control as the shift from traditional TV to online looms.

The presenter explained: “We’re kind of continuing to make the best show we can, people still love it, they still watch it, thankfully in the millions.”

“So it still has a huge place, but I think going forward TV in general is going to have to address how it’s being watched.

“But for me now, no, it’s just a pleasure to make, and people, as long as they keep watching it, we’ll keep making it.”
