Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss announced Friday that he is recovering from surgery to treat cancer.

“I’ve told you over the last few weeks that I’m battling something internally and your boy is a cancer survivor,” Moss said in a Instagram live stream.

Moss said he has been battling a cancer found outside his bile duct between his pancreas and liver. He was in the hospital for six days for surgery, treatment and recovery and was released on Friday.

Moss has been a regular on ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown” show this NFL season. The network announced on December 6 he wanted to go away from the show for a long time.

“As soon as I’m healthy enough to get back out with guys, I’ll be on set,” Moss said on the live stream Friday after thanking his ESPN colleagues. “Hopefully I can be with you guys soon.”

He thanked several doctors from the Charlotte-area medical center where he was treated, as well as the staff at the scene during his recovery.

“Thank you for helping to nurse me back to recovery so that I am able to come home to my family,” Moss said.

Hall of Fame wide receiver sells sweatshirt he wore during the live stream on his personal website. He said all proceeds from these sales will go to cancer research.

“I’m a cancer survivor, but we pulled through, and for that I thank you all,” Moss said.
