Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will undergo surgery to remove his prostate | World news

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will go to the hospital to have his prostate removed, his office said.

The 75-year-old was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection as a result of a benign prostate enlargement.

Mr. Netanyahu is expected to arrive at the hospital on Sunday to undergo surgery.

Earlier this year he had operation for hernia and had a pacemaker fitted last year.

The announcement comes after the Israeli military raided one of the last functioning hospitals in northern Gaza, arrest its director.

Israel has been at war with Hamas for more than 14 months since the October 7 attacks in which around 1,200 people were killed and 250 others abducted.

More than 45,400 Palestinians, over half of them women and children, have been killed and more than 108,000 others wounded, according to the Hamas-run Palestinian Ministry of Health, which does not distinguish between civilians and combatants.
