James Conner Active against Rams, Trey Benson sitting

LOS ANGELES — James Conner missed the end of the game at Carolina, but he found a way to be ready for Saturday night’s game against the Rams.

The veteran running back, who already set a career high for yards rushing in a season with 1,090, will be active for the penultimate game of the season, keeping alive his hopes of playing in every game this season. Fellow running back Trey Benson, who is recovering from an ankle injury, remains sidelined.

The Cardinals elevated running back Michael Carter and safety Andre Chachere earlier in the day, Carter to play Benson’s role and Chachere to fill in for the injured Joey Blount.

This will be the first game this season in which the Cardinals start two backup tackles. Kelvin Beachum will start at left tackle for the second straight week for Paris Johnson Jr., while Jackson Barton will start for Jonah Williams at right tackle. Johnson and Williams were both placed on injured reserve earlier this week.
