Minnesota Frost places Dominique Petrie on LTIR, signs Kaitlyn O’Donohoe

Minnesota Frost announced Saturday that forward Dominique Petrie was placed on long-term injured reserve (LTIR) due to an upper-body injury suffered on Dec. 19 against the Ottawa Charge.

In a similar move, Frost signed forward Kaitlyn O’Donohoe to a standard player agreement (SPA).

The 23-year-old O’Donohoe began the season on Minnesota’s reserve roster. She spent five seasons at Colgate University, scoring 54 goals and 72 assists for 126 points in 179 games, which ranks seventh all-time in school history.

Before joining Frost, O’Donohoe made her professional debut with SDHL’s Brynas IF, where she scored two goals and five assists for seven points in 14 games.

“Kaitlyn had played in the SDHL prior to attending our fall training camp, and that experience alone made her a great addition to our reserve group,” said Frost General Manager Melissa Caruso. “She plays fast, is a great athlete and has a track record of success in college. Her tools and background give us confidence that she can step in and help our team. We are excited to give her an opportunity to show his skills in the PWHL.”

The Frost will face the Montreal Victoire on Saturday afternoon at the Xcel Energy Center. Going into the weekend, Minnesota is first in the league with a 5-0-1 record and 12 points. Defenseman Claire Thompson leads the team with seven points (one goal, six assists), while teammates Kendall Coyne Schofield and Taylor Heise each have six points.

Saturday’s game will be their last in 2024 as the club have a five-day break before hosting Boston Fleet on January 2.
