Queen’s Brian May wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year with a warm acoustic video greeting/song

Christmas Eve, Brian May took to his social media pages to extend his season’s greetings to fans around the world in the form of an acoustic performance.

In it, the legendary Queen guitarist shows a Gibson guitar and wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in a warm musical moment that came with this caption on Instagram:

Just a little gift for you, with no strings attached – well, except for the 12 strings on this beautiful Gibson Bri model guitar! Thanks @gibsonguitaruk for this treasure. And here’s wishing you all a peaceful Christmas season. I’ll be drinking a toast to you all tomorrow at our Christmas roast dinner – all the more juicy and filling because I DON’T have pieces of a dead bird on my plate. I could never go back to that. Christmas is so much nicer without the cruelty. Forward! Rock! Bri

Back in September, May gave an update to the masses on his ongoing recovery from a minor stroke he suffered earlier this year:

“I’m here to bring you some good news – the good news is that I can play the guitar after the events of the last few days.” He went on to recount the details of his previous days, which apparently included a brief period of uncertainty regarding May’s ability to play the guitar. “I say that because it was in doubt because the little health problem that I mentioned happened about a week ago and what they called it was a minor stroke. It was a little scary, I must say.”

“Suddenly out of the blue I had no control over this arm,” he added.

Crediting her medical team for its “fantastic care,” May also says, “I didn’t want to say anything at the time because I didn’t want anything around, you know. I really don’t want sympathy. …

“Please don’t do that because it will clutter my inbox and I hate it,” May joked. “The good news is I’m okay. Just doing what I’m told, which is basically nothing. I’m grounded.”

In early December, May’s wife Anita Dobson offered another update on her health – as summarized by People:

On December 3, while speaking at the TRIC Christmas lunch in London, Anita Dobson discussed her husband’s recovery from the health situation. In September, the 77-year-old musician revealed he suffered a “minor stroke” and temporarily lost movement in his left arm.

“He’s much better now, he’s stabilized now, which is brilliant,” the British actress said, according to the report the mirror. “I just hope we don’t get any more repeats.”

Dobson, 75, said May is now able to use her left arm, but it “was a bit of a challenge.”

“He’s good to go now,” she boasted. “He plays the piano quite a lot in the house. He likes Beethoven very much. I love it – the piano in the house is really, just very relaxing.”
