Falke projected to land star 8 INT CB to pair with AJ Terrell

The Atlanta Falcons have constructed a strong secondary over the past several years. AJ Terrell, the team’s 2020 first-round draft pick, has blossomed into one of the better cornerbacks in the league. They’ve also built a ridiculous safety tandem behind him, signing Jessie Bates and Justin Simmons in recent years.

Atlanta has also had some players step up this season, one of them being Mike Hughes, who has played solidly opposite Terrell. The Falcons are still locked in a tight race for the NFC South division crown as they are tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 8-7. However, Atlanta has the lead as they swept Tampa Bay earlier in the season.

If they want to run away with the division lead next year, they need to consider continuing to add to their strong secondary. That is why Travis May from A to Z Sports has Atlanta select the Texas corner Jahdae Barron with the number 19 pick in his latest mock draft.

This may feel like a reach for the Atlanta Falcons, but it certainly isn’t. Jahdae Barron has been a turnover machine and a key leader this season for the Texas Longhorns defense. He has been nearly perfect in coverage, giving up just 7.9 yards per carry. reception, zero touchdowns allowed on 61 targets, and 13 passes defensed this year. He just seems to be in the right place at the right time all time thanks to his veteran savvy, physique and defensive back instincts.

Barron has become a superstar at Texas this past season, totaling 11 passes defensed and five interceptions. In five seasons with the Longhorns, Barron has amassed 24 passes defensed, 20 tackles for a loss and eight interceptions. The added experience could be beneficial in his transition to the NFL, as cornerback is one of the hardest positions to adjust to at the next level.
