Tennessee WR Squirrel White plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal

Tennessee wide receiver Squirrel white intends to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. He has one year of eligibility left.

White played three seasons at Tennessee and had a significant role in the offense all three years. White played in 38 career games with the Volunteers and caught 131 passes for 1,665 yards and six touchdowns.

White’s best career season came in 2023, when he caught 67 passes for 803 yards and two touchdowns.

White was slowed in 2024 by a series of injuries. He was beaten up earlier in the season, and was on the damage report through most of October, but he hasn’t missed a game this season despite the ailments. As a result, White had a career-low 381 receiving yards in 2024, on 34 catches.

White was a four-star prospect in the 2021 signing class. He played high school football at Clay-Chalkville (Al.) High School where he was no. 371 overall view in the class, according to On3 Industry Ranking.

A Tennessee tight end recently entered the transfer portal

Tennessee tight end Holden Staes plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. This was according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett reporting Thursday.

Staes appeared in all 13 games this season for the Vols, catching 15 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown. He helped Tennessee reach the College Football Playoff.

Staes came to Tennessee after starting his career at Notre Dame. He was ranked as a four-star recruit and the No. 9 in the country in the class of 2022 according to On3 Industry Rankings.

Before playing at Tennessee, Staes played in 11 games and made eight starts for Notre Dame in 2023. He finished the year with 15 catches for 176 yards and four scores. Staes immediately becomes one of the top tight end options on the transfer portal for the 2025 season.

Staes is the second Tennessee tight end to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal on Thursday. Before him it was Charlie Browder hits the portal to a new home.

Browder initially began his career at UCFwill join the Knights in 2021, the year after the current Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel left for Knoxville. However, then assistant coach Alex Golesh was critical in recruiting Browder to UCF. He would then transfer from Orlando and join Tennessee in 2022.

Coming out of high school at Christ School in North Carolina, Browder was a three-star recruit in the class of 2021, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the 61st-ranked tight end and the 1,121st-ranked player overall in that recruiting cycle.
