Why the Kings fired Mike Brown would come as a surprise

The Sacramento Kings have not had the season they expected as their recent loss to the Detroit Pistons has been the kind of year they are experiencing. The team is now on a five-game losing streak, and there have now been rumors that head coach Mike Brown is on the hot seat. Despite those rumors, it seems like it would be a surprise if he was fired, according to Brett Siegel of CluchPoints.

“First of all, it would come as a huge surprise to many around the league if head coach Mike Brown were to be fired,” Siegel wrote. “Between the front office and players, Brown has earned the trust of everyone in the organization over the years. The Kings don’t have a coaching problem, but they do have a personnel problem with their talent not living up to who they are. This roster is set in stone, which is why the Kings will have to ride things out with what they have, because on paper, this team is good enough to be very much in the playoff picture.

The Kings have a full roster, but it doesn’t seem to be coming together the way they like this season. With the addition of DeMar DeRozan in the offseason, the Kings were poised to be one of the top teams in the Western Conference, but things haven’t gone their way.

They’ve been active on the trade market, but it seems like they’re just going to try to work with what they have and hope they can make some fun sometime during the season.

The Sacramento Kings had a chance to snap their four-game losing streak, but they blew a late lead against the Detroit Pistons after Jaden Ivey hit a game-winning three and was fouled by De’Aaron Fox for the four-point play.

After the game, Mike Brown called out the Suns and Fox for the poor play execution.

“Jaden shouldn’t have had a chance to shoot a three by himself because … we told our guys if somebody catches in the back of the basket, fake them and they dribbled for 8 seconds and we didn’t make them, so it’s the first,” Brown said.

“You have to hug up to your man at the 3-point line,” Brown continued. “Everybody should, and why there was an end, but Fox, I’m not sure. I’ll have to go back and watch the tape. But we definitely said 100% to our guys, can’t give up a three, don’t give up a three, don’t give up a three, stay on the high side, stay on the high side.”

De’Aaron Fox was asked about the offense and had a blunt response on the matter.

“It doesn’t really matter,” Fox said. “It’s not going to make anyone feel better.”
