Cool with mostly cloudy skies

PHOENIX — Another day of cool and cloudy weather before we warm up again.

Afternoon highs will remain near normal for Friday and in the mid to upper 60s.

High pressure pushes back into the desert southwest this weekend to bring dry and warmer weather.

Temperatures will slowly begin to warm, trending back into the low 70s on Saturday and mid 70s on Sunday.

The ridge of high pressure put afternoon highs in the mid-70s well into the new year.

As of December 26, Phoenix’s average temperature for the month is 63.1 degrees.

It beats the all-time record for December, which was 61.3 degrees, set in 1980.

With above-average temperatures sticking around a bit longer, there’s a good chance we’ll break that record.
