Mild days ahead for Arizona leading into the New Year

PHOENIX (AZ Family) — A mild, partly cloudy day is expected over Arizona. Look for a high of 68 degrees in the valley today, which is only three degrees above normal for this time of year in Phoenix.

A storm that hit our region on Christmas Day is now in the Texas panhandle. Cloud cover remains over Arizona, along with some virga and light sprinkles possible in the high country today.

Friday looks mild again with an afternoon high of 70. A ridge of high pressure is set to move in over the weekend leading to a slight warm up. The high on Saturday will rise to about 72 degrees, and to about 76 degrees on Sunday.

A stronger ridge is expected to build over the region next week, leading to even warmer stretches along with continued dry weather. Tuesday — New Year’s Eve — will bring highs in the mid-70s. New Year’s Day will also top our in the mid-70s under mostly sunny skies.
