Warmer weather heading for the valley

The letter

  • 67° with cloudy skies for the valley, but a warm-up is on the way.

  • Low 30s for Flagstaff’s Snowbowl Ski Area today.

PHOENIXThe beautiful weather lasts all week. Temperatures will run near average on Thursday with highs in the mid to upper 60s across the Valley. It will be windy in northern Arizona, and most of the state will see clouds overhead throughout the day.

A few rounds of isolated rain/snow showers are possible along the extreme northern edge of the state. However, most of Arizona will remain dry through the weekend.
Temperatures will warm to the upper 60s on Friday and the low 70s on Saturday. On Sunday, mid-70s are expected in Phoenix. It will be partly sunny Friday morning, becoming sunnier later in the day through the weekend. Again, northern Arizona will be windy into the weekend.

Temperatures atop the San Francisco Peaks and White Mountains will be in the 30s all weekend — good news for snowmaking efforts at Snowbowl and Sunrise.

Into next week, warmer conditions will prevail with highs in the low to mid 70s all week long.

New Year’s Eve will reach a high of around 73 degrees, with temperatures dropping to the low 50s around midnight. The new year will begin above average with highs again in the mid-70s.

Dry conditions are likely to start in 2025.
