Hospital 50/50 tops $4 million for first time

The jackpot is expected to hit $4 million by Christmas, with 10 days left before ticket sales close.

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay 50/50 jackpot is a record fourth consecutive December.

Monday’s top prize soared past last year’s all-time high of $3.83 million in total and crossed the $4 million-plus mark with 10 days of ticket sales remaining.

“With ticket sales showing no signs of slowing down, we can only imagine how high the grand prize will reach by the end of the month,” said Glenn Craig, president and CEO of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.

“One thing we know for sure is that someone will get a life-changing start to 2025. Breaking the record from last December is a remarkable achievement and I’m incredibly grateful for the community’s continued support which makes this possible.”

It has been a record year for the lottery with more than $41 million in ticket sales. The jackpot has exceeded at least $1.1 million for each of the past 16 months and has not fallen below $1.2 million since October 2023.

There’s still $125,000 in early bird prizes up for grabs, including the biggest yet, a $50,000 prize to be drawn on New Year’s Eve.

The grand prize draw will take place on January 3rd.
