Amazon Prime Premier League matches face sound problems on Boxing Day – Sports

In the midst of the Christmas season, which airs on Amazon Prime today, millions will tune in to watch the Premier League.

The tradition of Boxing Day dates back over 100 years, with football matches previously being played on Christmas Day and Boxing Day in the Victorian era.

This was due to the bank holidays which allowed more fans to attend and would lead to match congestion which would infuriate Jurgen Klopp today as in 1913 Liverpool played on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and the 27th.thwin 4-2, lose 1-0, then draw 3-3, according to BBC.

Fast forward to today and while Christmas Day is no longer on the cards for football, Boxing Day just doesn’t feel the same without the Premier League.

This year, however, everyone has had the same complaint about Boxing Day on Amazon Prime.

One tweeted: “Imagine having Boxing Day coverage with Jeff Stelling and fucking without sound, well done Prime”.

Another said: “Everybody else’s coverage all day @primevideosport do you have no sound?”

It seems that football up and down the country is being played completely without sound.

For anyone who remembers the scary days of Covid-19 football, it feels more wrong to watch football without crowd noise.

Add to that the lack of commenters, which Amazon presumably spent a pretty penny on, and it’s less than ideal.

It has sent viewers watching Boxing Day line-ups furious, with one fan tweeting: “Just switched on Jeff and there’s no sound! @primevideosport Boxing Day ruined!”

Another said: “Amazing Jeff! Everyone else lost all sound on @primevideosport? Can’t watch football in silence…”

A third angry fan said: “Unless my TV is on flash I get no sound on Prime’s All Day match coverage… are you @primevideosport“.

One Newcastle fan agreed, saying they had no sound either.

While others have even suggested that there are other issues going on with the Prime Video coverage of the Premier League, with some hearing a ‘rhythmic humming’ sound during the broadcast of the Newcastle games.

One fan tweeted: “Anyone who hears a rhythmic hum on the audio @primevideosport Newcastle match?”

While Amazon has struggled in today’s matches, the streaming service is slowly becoming part of the furniture when it comes to screening the Premier League.

They have gradually shown more games and have shown 20 games a season in this current “cycle” which runs from 2022/23 to 2024/25.

LADbible has contacted Prime Video for comment.
