Memphis Grizzlies’ Santi Aldama leaves the game against the Raptors with an ankle injury

Memphis Grizzlies forward Santi Aldama was helped off the floor by teammates Thursday night against the Toronto Raptors.

Aldama appeared to hurt his ankle after a defensive possession in the first quarter. He stayed on the floor as the Grizzlies continued their possession on offense.

He is doubtful to return due to a left ankle injury.

Aldama waved off the Grizzlies bench as he sat on the floor as Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins checked to see if he was OK. But when Aldama tried to get up, he couldn’t get off under his own power.

Aldama is an early season candidate for sixth man of the year. He has been one of the Grizzlies’ most consistent players while averaging 13.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.

John Konchar gets more playing time while Aldama is out.

Memphis remains without center Jay Huff, who would typically be next in line. Huff is considered day-to-day with his ankle injury and participated in playgroup Thursday morning, according to Jenkins.
