‘Baby Driver’ teen actor was 16, died of fall

Hudson Meek, a teenage actor who starred in Edgar Wright’s “Baby Driver,” died Dec. 22 in Alabama after falling from a moving vehicle. He was 16.

“Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight,” read a post on his Instagram account. “His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he achieved so much and greatly influenced everyone he met.”

The accident happened Thursday night in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, according to local news site AL.com. Meek “sustained injuries after falling onto the road from a moving vehicle,” Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates told AL.com. Meek was taken to a hospital and died Saturday night. Vestavia Hills police are investigating his death.

Meek had several acting roles in the 2010s and 2020s, the biggest being in the 2017 action film “Baby Driver.” He played a young version of Ansel Elgort’s protagonist Baby, a professional getaway driver with a passion for music. He also starred in “MacGyver”, “The School Duet”, “Genius”, “Found”, “Legacies”, “Union”, “Momma Jenny & the Brooks Boys”, “Providence”, “Half Pint”, “90 Minutes,” “The List” and “The Santa Con.”

“Specific details regarding a celebration of Hudson’s life to be held on December 28, as well as how to contribute to a scholarship in Hudson’s memory at Vestavia Hills High School in lieu of flowers, will follow,” the post on his Instagram said account. “Please pray for Hudson’s family and friends as we all process this sudden and tragic loss.”
