British Airways is scrapping several short-haul flights next summer

SEVERAL flights appear to have been scrapped by British Airways for the summer holidays next year.

Earlier this month, the airline confirmed it would suspend its routes from London Heathrow to Abu Dhabi.

And now short-haul flights appear to have been hit by cancellations.

Flights to both Santorini and Mykonos from London Gatwick appears to no longer be for sale.

Aviation analyst Sean M wrote on social media: “British Airways appears to have removed 2 routes from London Gatwick from sale: Mykonos (and) Santorini.”

Britons can still travel from London Heathrow to both Greek islands, although this will mean fewer options for people traveling from London.

And two routes from London Heathrow to Europe doesn’t seem to be for sale anymore either.

Both Kos and Pula are not for sale on the British Airways website for summer 2025, Head for Point reports.

They said: “I am not sure what rebooking options are provided for Pula.

“A search for Pula on ba.com now brings up a BA flight to Zagreb followed by a long wait (I saw one day with a seven hour layover!) for a connection with Croatia Airlines.

“Unfortunately, Croatia Airlines flights have a stopover in Zadar on some days, making it a longer trip.”

British Airways declined to comment.

BA did not return to Gatwick Airport until 2022, launching short-haul international flights.

But a number of routes have been scrapped in recent months.

On 18 December, the airline confirmed that the Heathrow-Abu Dhabi route would be suspended from March to October next year.

This is due to ongoing engine problems with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Its route from London Gatwick to New York has been suspended until next year after launching it back in 2015.

And from March 2025, flights to Kuwait will be suspended after U-turning on its planned Bahrain cancellations.

New routes to Kuala Lumpur were meant to be launched this year, although they have been pushed back to April 2024.
