TJ Maxx confirms it will close all 1,319 stores for the day — and Marshalls won’t be helping

TJ MAXX has announced that it will follow tradition and close on Christmas Day.

More than 1,300 of its U.S. stores will close for the holidays, so loyal shoppers visiting the discount retailer will have to find an alternative.

As the holidays approach, TJ Maxx has announced that it will close all 1,319 stores on Christmas Day.

The chain is known for its wide range of affordable fashion, home goods and unique finds – but those will have to wait for another day.

The 24-hour closure allows employees to spend the festivities with their families and follows a long line of retailers doing the same.

It’s not all bad news, though.

Shopping will resume as normal for all TJ Maxx fans on December 26th.

Most places are usually open from 9:30 to 21:30, Monday to Saturday and from 10:00 to 20:00 on Sundays.

This year, TJ Maxx will offer extended hours, opening at 8 a.m. Thursday instead.

If you’re thinking of going to Marshalls instead, think again.

This mass closing will not only affect TJ Maxx, as all names under TJX Companies will close by Christmas.

Sister chain Marshalls is also closing its doors on the same day, leaving bargain hunters with limited options.

While many retailers are turning to online shopping as an alternative, TJ Maxx and Marshalls have a limited e-commerce presence compared to their competitors.

Most, if not all stores that close for the holidays will likely resume regular scheduling on December 26th.

OTHER PLACES TO SHOP

If you need to shop on Christmas Day, it’s not all bad news.

Shoppers hoping to score last-minute deals on food, gifts, clothing and more have several options.

Some items will be available for Amazon same day delivery and can be delivered in a few hours.

Alternatively, CVS will be open for all your healthcare needs on Christmas Day.

Walgreens will also be open for holiday shoppers.

It is also likely that select grocery chains such as 7-Eleven or Wawa will be open in some areas.
