Buccaneers vs. Cowboys predictions and live updates: NFL ‘Sunday Night Football’ how to watch, inactive and latest

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Cooper Rush will make his 13th NFL start tonight. And while he’s spent the majority of his eight-year career as Dak Prescott’s backup, Rush is nothing new to starting in prime time. Almost half of his starts have come in that situation.

His first career start was at Minnesota on Sunday Night Football in 2021, a 20-16 Cowboys win. He then went 1-1 in prime time in 2022, winning Monday Night Football at the New York Giants but losing at Philadelphia on Sunday Night Football.

Rush has started two Monday Night Football games this season, both losses at AT&T Stadium, Week 11 to the Texans and Week 14 to the Bengals.

“I’m kind of used to the schedule of these late night games,” Rush said this week. “Being here for a while helps. Me and my brother actually joke that for some reason I have a ridiculous amount of prime time starts for how many starts I have. The relationship is kind of funny. It’s just like, the chips are down when you’re in this spot. It’s fun though. (Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy) is putting a great schedule on us as players to get ready for it.”

Rush, an undrafted free agent who signed with the Cowboys in 2017, is 3-3 as a starter this season and 8-4 for his career.
