Fake 'Dragon Ball Super' leak spreads rumors of new chapter and Janemba's return

This is a misleading leak that caused a stir among ‘Dragon Ball’ fans by spreading rumors of a new chapter for ‘Dragon Ball Super” despite no official announcement. The supposed “leak”, which has gone viral on X (formerly Twitter), says that a new promotional page allegedly teasing the manga’s return was released ahead of Jump Festa 2025. The leaked image of a red-gloved hand reaching for a sword with the text “No mercy to the gods!!” written next to “Coming in 2025.” It also seems to point to something re Jumpfest 2025which will be held in Japan on December 22, 2024.
A tantalizing leak because it allegedly brings back one of the fan-favorite villains in ‘Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn’ from the 1995 film, and the image is shown with a sword that strongly resembles Super Janemba‘s red Dimension Sword in the film, so many believe it could return in the canon of ‘Dragon Ball Super’. It sports Black Star Dragon Ball. This has sparked much speculation about a possible story involving the Black Star Dragon Balls, last used in the ‘Dragon Ball GT’ series.
The following are many warning signs that lead us to believe that this leak is actually just a hoax. A giveaway is the sword image in the image itself, the same one used in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ by God Butcher Gorr, almost an unnecessary bit of plot detail. More importantly, the inclusion of Black Star Dragon Ball could again be a mistake or an intention to mislead, but it does not hint at any of the official plans for the series. Fans have been very quick to call the leak fake; most play playfully with the idea, while the rest reject it completely. The manga still has no word from the staff on its return. After the sudden death of its creator, Akira Toriyama, in March 2024, the series is on hiatus, so no one knows if there will be a comeback of the manga. Although its current illustrator, Toyotarou, continues to publish the works based on the masterpieces of Toriyama’s great characters, no new date has been set for the release of another new ‘Dragon Ball Super’ chapter.
Meanwhile, the latest iteration of the ‘Dragon Ball’ franchise, ‘Dragon Ball Daima‘, airs new episodes every Friday on Crunchyroll. The English dub starts in January 2025.
