Suspect killed after driving truck into Texas Mall

At least five people were injured and a suspect was killed after a man drove his pickup truck through the glass doors of a JC Penney at a Texas mall, police said.

The incident happened Saturday night, just days before Christmas, at the Killeen Mall in Killeen, Texas – which is about 70 miles north of Austin.

In a news conference Saturday night, Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Bryan Washko said the truck was driven “several hundred yards” through the entrance of the JC Penney store.

Startled shoppers were injured when the driver “actively ran people over” and a fifth went to hospital on his own, Sergeant Washko said. The injured were between 6 and 75 years old, he said.
