Chiefs add Hollywood Brown to tired offense at perfect time in Week 16

Nobody wanted Brown to get hurt, but his return is well-timed for this Chiefs offense.

If a team is going to be tasked with playing three games in 11 days, which is what the National Football League is demanding of the Kansas City Chiefs here at the end of the 2024 regular season, then it certainly helps to have some well-rested reinforcements that can help give the guard a slight edge. A look at the list of inactives for the day shows KC getting just that.

The Chiefs see a key player make the active roster (and the active player roster) for Week 16 when they host the Houston Texans after suffering through a shorter week of preparation. Just six days after playing the Cleveland Browns in Week 15, the Chiefs host the Texans hoping to win their 14th game of the year.

To help the cause, the Chiefs are excited to add the talent and experience of wide receiver Hollywood Brown to the mix for the first time this entire season.

The Chiefs signed Brown to a one-year deal this offseason in a move that was an obvious gamble on the veteran wide receiver’s own contract. His last season in Arizona hardly went as hoped, and it made sense for Brown to find himself with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes to rebuild his market value. The offseason chemistry was obvious and immediate, but Brown was lost when he injured his collarbone in the team’s opening preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Brown has been out for the entire season since early August, but recent reports said he was eyeing a late-season return despite having surgery on the injury, and now he will make his debut for the Chiefs with just three games to go – an ideal time to infuse himself with the offense before the games really matter the most.

As for the chiefs who is inactive on Saturday against the Cleveland Browns, here’s the full roster.

  • Chamarri Conner, defensive back
  • Ethan Driskell, offensive line
  • CJ Hanson, offensive line

  • DJ Humphries, offensive tackle
  • Marlon Tuipulotu, defensive interior
