Notre Dame football defeated the Indiana Hoosiers 27-17 in the first round of the College Football Playoff, but it wasn’t all rosy for the Irish.

They once again saw several players go down with injuries, and after the game head coach Marcus Freeman followed updated status on a very important part of the Irish attack. Star running back Jeremiah Love is coming off an injury and his coach told us he’s not 100%, but didn’t look it on his long touchdown run.

As the top offensive player for Notre Dame, they need him to be as healthy as possible as they prepare for Georgia Bulldogs in the sugar bowl. With over a week until they face each other on New Year’s Day, that’s hopefully plenty of time for Love to get healthy enough to be as explosive as he was against Indiana.

There was another significant injury when defensive lineman Rylie Mills went down in the third quarter with a bad knee after a sack. Freeman told Scott Van Pelt that “it sounds like it’s not season finale,” but didn’t go into more detail beyond that. There is hope that Mills can be ready for the Bulldogs.
