NBA star announces shock engagement to rapper on Instagram

Former NBA champion Dwight Howard revealed his relationship with rapper Amy Luciani by announcing their engagement on Instagram.

The couple went public with their relationship and shared their engagement in separate posts on Friday.

The Love and Hip Hop Atlanta 2023 alum shared a video of the former Orlando Magic poster boy admiring his diamond engagement ring at a club and explained how they kept their relationship under the radar for some time.

“I enjoyed you so much out of public view but here we are,” Luciani wrote. ‘Thank you for bringing me back to the word. Everything I say or fuss about, the first thing you say is ‘Did you ask for that?’ Then I realized that I hadn’t prayed much at all lately. I’m just grateful, happy and ready for whatever comes our way.

‘I prayed really hard on a Thursday not knowing that 2 days later God would send me a bible totin tattooed giant with the same heart as me. Thanks.’

Luciani’s post included photos and videos of them from several occasions, including Howard’s 39th birthday celebration on December 8.

The eight-time NBA all-star took the comments to heart with an infinity emoji, a red heart emoji and a lock and key emoji.

Howard also took part in the big reveal, posting photos with his fiancée at the ‘Den of Thieves 2’ screening in Atlanta that he hosted on Wednesday.

“Happy,” he wrote with the hashtags “black love” and “praying for this.”

The couple confirmed the news after a video of them flashing the ring in a club surfaced online on Thursday.

Earlier this month, they were pictured together at an event for Celsius energy drink in Miami. But the genesis of their relationship is still unclear.

Howard was drafted by the Orlando Magic in 2004 and spent the first eight years of his 18-season NBA career with the team. After 2012, he bounced around organizations with stints with the Lakers, Rockets, Hawks, Hornets, Wizards and 76ers.

The first overall pick in 2004 made eight All-Star appearances and was named Defensive Player of the Year three times. He won a title with the Lakers in 2020.

After his NBA career, Howard played with the Taoyuan Leopards in Taiwan before returning Stateside to compete on Dancing With The Stars.

On Thursday, the Basketball Hall of Fame announced that Howard is eligible for induction along with Carmelo Anthony, Amar’e Stoudemire and others.
