Ravens waive WR Diontae Johnson less than two months after trade from Panthers

Johnson joined the Ravens just before the trade deadline this season, moving from Charlotte to Baltimore via trade with the goal of giving an AFC contender another weapon for Lamar Jackson. It never came to fruition, however, as Johnson caught just one pass in four games before retreating into the background, being suspended for one game after refusing to participate in Baltimore’s Week 13 loss to Philadelphia.

After the game, reporters asked why Tylan Wallace saw snaps over Johnson. Coach John Harbaugh remained vague on the matter, and Johnson was suspended later that week.

His time in Baltimore ends with one catch for six yards on five targets in four games, a steep drop from the 30 balls he caught for 357 yards and three touchdowns in the first half of the season spent with the Panthers.

We’ll see if he finds work elsewhere in the 2024 season.
