Snow continues in Metro Detroit through Friday; Colder temperatures this weekend

4 Warn the weather – We expect the snow to continue most of the day today, with most places seeing up to 2 inches of snow accumulation by the time we get to the evening hours tonight.

A winter weather notice is an effect for Sanilac in St. Clair Counties until 22:00 Friday night. These areas could see at least 3 inches of snow by the time we get to the late evening hours tonight.

The bulk of the snow will end as we get into the afternoon hours, but the snow machine will kick in through the afternoon and into the evening hours tonight. High temperatures today heading a few degrees above freezing late Friday afternoon.

We will keep some cloud cover in the forecast and look forward to the start of the weekend on Saturday, but some sunshine is expected. High temperatures are much colder, only heading into the mid-20s Saturday afternoon.

Another round of snow looks set to move into the forecast as we head into Monday afternoon and into Monday evening, and it could end up as a brief sleet mix Tuesday morning towards Christmas Eve. High temperatures will rise to hover around freezing early next week, and that warming streak will continue with highs into the upper 30s Tuesday afternoon.

We keep some cloud cover in the forecast for Christmas Day Wednesday, high temperatures seasonably, into the upper 30s Wednesday afternoon before heading into the low 40s as we head into Thursday.
