American Airlines plane flooded 30,000 feet above ground: 'Imagine drowning in air'

It’s not every day that air travel feels like a cruise, but that’s exactly what passengers on an American Airlines flight from Dallas to Minneapolis experienced on Dec. 7. A sudden water leak in the cabin had flyers fearing they might “drown” at 30,000 feet above the ground.
The unexpected flooding began when a leak in a rear toilet sent water pouring down the aisle toward the front of the plane, according to the New York Post. Hilary Stewart Blazevic, a passenger, told Storyful that a woman alerted a flight attendant to the leak after using the restroom. The crew was unable to stop the leak despite their best efforts.
“It was complete disbelief and a bit of panic,” Blazevic said, explaining how passengers scrambled to lift their feet and belongings out of the “disgusting” water pooling on the floor.
A viral TikTok video, which has now garnered over 7.2 million views, captured the chaos on board. The clip, humorously set to CĂ©line Dion’s My heart will go on, the theme song from the 1997 film Titanic – showed panicked passengers trying to escape the current. One content creator even said in the video caption, “The in-flight movie was Titanic.”
Comments poured in online, with many comparing the ordeal to a scene from the Final Destination series. “Imagine drowning…in a plane…in the air,” one user wrote. Another added: “New final destination fear unlocked.”
While the incident was unnerving, it wasn’t the only frightening event for flyers in recent months. In September, an Avianca Airlines flight to Colombia faced severe turbulence that caused passengers to grab their seats and pray.
